  Presets with Squeeze 9

Format Presets Overview
Presets in Squeeze are sets of options which control how your video is converted and compressed, and affect everything from the final video quality to file size.

Popular and Customized Presets for Squeeze
Some of the more popular and often requested presets as well as re-optimized versions of the presets included in Squeeze.

Video Formats
You can encode video in many formats in Sorenson Squeeze.

Audio Formats
You can encode audio in many formats in Sorenson Squeeze.

MainConcept H.264 Preset Customization
The MainConcept H.264 codec Is available to use in the following formats: MP4, MOV, blu-ray .264 and .ts with a digital signage format constraint.

x264 Preset Customization
Squeeze 8 and higher includes the x264 open source codec for H.264 encoding. Tests have indicated x264 delivers higher quality output than Main Concept H.264. Any container or format that supports Main Concept H.264 will now output x264 as well.

HTML 5 Presets (New in Squeeze 9)
HTML 5 is the latest version of the language used by web browsers. Previously a plug-in, such as Flash or Silverlight, would be needed to play video. With HTML 5 a new <video> tag allows videos to be directly linked and played natively inside a web browser.

Constraining File Size Option
If you would like to constrain your output file to a specific file size you can use the Constrain File Size option after applying your preset to your source file.

MOV Codecs Overview
There are many various codec options for the MOV format. The default codec for most the MOV presets in Squeeze is x264.

Adaptive Bitrate Encoding
Adaptive Bit Rate encoding presets (under the Adaptive Bit Rate folder under the Web tab in the Presets window) are available in Squeeze 8 and higher, such as "Adobe HTTP," "Apple HLS," and "Microsoft Smooth Streaming." As of Squeeze 8.5 MPEG-DASH has also been added.

FLV Preset Customization
Flash video (FLV) was at one time the most popular video format on the internet. The Flash 8 (F8) presets in Squeeze use the On2 VP6 codec which is more advanced than the Spark codec used in F6 FLV presets and will give you more optimal results every time when compared to Spark Flash 6 presets.

WebM Preset Customization
WebM is a open source (non-proprietary) format which uses the VP8 video codec. WebM's VP8 codec is similar to the H.264 codec as far as file size and output quality are concerned.

MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 Preset Customization
There are many default MPEG-2 prests in Squeeze to help you make DVD files and discs, blu-ray files. If you have need of an MPEG-1 or 2 preset for more general purpose, this article will help you understand the preset settings to achieve optimal results.

Audio Preset customization
You can encode audio in many formats in Sorenson Squeeze. The format you choose affect the available quality of your audio, the possible file sizes for typical quality, and the compatibility to play back on a specific device or software.
